10 of My Favourite Bible Verses for Christmas
Living in an old Scottish cottage, sitting with a warm drink, the Christmas tree lights on, and taking a little time to reflect on what Christmas actually means is beautiful.
Because beneath all the decorations, presents, festive food and family traditions, there's a story that has been told for more than two thousand years.
A story about a young mother.
A baby born.
Angels appearing in the night.
Shepherds leaving their fields.
And a message of hope that has travelled across generations.
I think one of the most beautiful things about the Christmas story is that it isn't really about grandeur.
Jesus wasn't born in a palace.
The first people invited to celebrate his birth weren't kings or powerful officials.
They were ordinary people.
So I've gathered ten of my favourite Bible verses for Christmas, including some familiar passages from the Nativity and others that remind me of kindness, faith, peace and love.
Whether you read the Bible regularly or simply enjoy reflecting on the meaning of Christmas, I hope these verses bring a little comfort and inspiration to your festive season.
All Bible quotations below are from the King James Version (KJV).

1. Luke 2:10–11 — The Angel Brings Good News
“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
2. Isaiah 9:6 — Unto Us a Child Is Born
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
3. Luke 2:14 — Peace on Earth
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
4. Matthew 1:23 — Emmanuel, God With Us
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
5. Luke 1:38 — Mary's Courage and Faith
“And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.”

6. Micah 5:2 — The Little Town of Bethlehem
“But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel.”
7. Luke 2:19 — Mary Treasured These Things in Her Heart
“But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.”
8. John 1:5 — The Light Shines in the Darkness
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
9. 1 Corinthians 13:13 — Faith, Hope and Love
“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
10. Numbers 6:24–26 — A Blessing of Peace
“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

If I had to choose just one, I think it might be Luke 2:19.
Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
There's something about that verse that feels especially meaningful to me.
Perhaps because the older I get, the more I realise how precious ordinary moments can be.
The things we remember.
The people we love.
And the little traditions that stay with us long after Christmas has passed.
A Little Note About My Images ♡
You'll notice that the images across my blog are a mixture of my own photography and AI-generated images.
I'm a one-woman band running this little corner of the internet, without a team of photographers, designers or editors behind me. Living with OCD also means I can be particularly careful about things like copyright and image permissions, so I sometimes use AI to help bring my ideas to life without those additional worries.
Where possible, I love sharing my own photographs, especially glimpses of my cottage, garden and everyday life here in Scotland. Other times, I'll use AI-generated imagery to illustrate an idea or provide a little creative inspiration.
I believe in being transparent, so I wanted you to know that you'll find a mixture of both throughout my website. The words, experiences, opinions and ideas are my own.
Thank you for supporting my little one-woman blog! ❤️
